Weymouth, Massachusetts
Settled in 1622, settlers tried to settle this area twice before it was incorporated in 1635. Theft and other debauchery caused the settlement to fail and some of the settlers headed north to Maine to gain passage back to England. In 1630 it was part of the Massachusetts Colony, and with 503 people, settlement was finally accomplished. Today Weymouth has a population of 53, 272 and a total area of 21.6 square miles, with 4.6 square miles of this area being water.
